Doc Dock, Perkins Pier
Doc Dock, Perkins Pier
A glorious pier in Burlington, VT with a spectacular view across Lake Champlain to the Adirondacks. To the east are restaurants, historic buildings and the bike path. This is a favorite spot for me and you can catch me painting, sketching and walking my dog. Shanty on the Shore and more can be spotted in the background of this painting!
Perkins Pier is named after Dr. Charles N. Perkins born in 1880. He was a Burlington physician and city alderman who was passionate about preserving Lake Champlain as a public resource. In 1959, following his death, the city renamed the "old salt dock" in his honor to recognize his work in making the waterfront accessible and enjoyable for everyone. Thanks so much Dr. Perkins!
